On Tuesday, July 14th we had an open house to celebrate our 15 year anniversary! We had such a great turnout and were so lucky that weather cooperated with us! We had a potluck dinner which included some really delicious booyah made by one of our dads, Jon. Thanks everyone for all the contributions! For a sweet treat, we had dilly bars from DQ, brought to us by one of our dads, Chad. Jake's Jumpers provided us with a dunk tank- the kids had a blast soaking their teachers! The kids themselves were able to get wet, too, we had our water tables open as well as some fun water play games. Kidz Town came out to do henna tattoos, most of us are sporting some new ink! We also unveiled our new water and music walls which were built by our parent volunteers! The kids loved them, however, they are not as kid-proof as we were hoping...
And of course... the basket raffle! I am overwhelmed with appreciation for the awesome baskets we were able to put together with family and teacher donations! We had 10 different baskets; Wisconsin Sports, Wine and Cheese, Movie Night, Game Night, Dog, Lego/Minecraft, Beach, Disney and 2 Flowers.
The raffle was hugely successful, we should now be able to eliminate the smaller, more tedious fundraisers we do throughout the year! I'm so happy for the families who won the baskets- I hope you love all the treasures you found inside!
So many people contributed to the success of this party- our staff, families, and friends helped pull it all together! I love the sense of community we have created at our center, it grows stronger every day! Here's to another 15 years!
I would also like to extend a special congratulations to Tracy and her family- be proud, the butterfly has emerged!
There was lots of fun to be had in DePere this week! Tie-dyeing, making lemonade, Michael Murphy, field trips galore, bubbles and more!
Have a fun, safe holiday weekend!
Today at the Green Bay center we got a visit from Officer Kyle with a service truck (the kids are calling it an ambulance or a fire truck). Officer Kyle told us that a service truck is filled with tools that could help in any sort of emergency. He showed us the first aid pack, an oxygen mask, a stretcher, a neck brace, a fireman's helmet, and he turned on the siren for us! He even let us sit in the truck! Thanks Officer Kyle!
Check out more photos in the front hall or near your child's classroom!
On Sunday, with the help of some parents who are very generous with their time, expertise and creativity we started to assemble a music and water wall for the kids. Our families have been donating all kinds of unique items for these walls; this is what we started with...
It didn't take long before we got things sorted out- Jon, Beth and Sherry took on the water wall (that one took a little more engineering!) and Cassie, Tracy and I started the music wall. It's a good thing some of us were more comfortable with power tools than others...
Some kiddos, Ben, Nathan and Ila joined us as well- Nathan was able to confirm that we did not in fact have things fastened to the music wall as tightly as they needed to be- he easily pulled a few things right off! We still have some toddler proofing to do! Ben turned out to be pretty handy with a hammer and Ila kept us all in good spirits with her charm.
We worked hard for a couple of hours, but the creative juices stopped flowing as we approached dinner time. We just have a few more final touches to make and hope to have the new walls ready to use in time for our Summer Open House on Tuesday, July 14th!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! Thank You Teachers!
