Illness Policy
  1. A child with any of the following symptoms will not be able to attend day care until all symptoms are free for at least
    24 hours.

    Vomiting
    Inflammation of the Eyes
    Diarrhea
    Rash / Lice
    Any Communicable Illness
    Fever*

  2. If a child becomes ill at the center, the parent will be called to pick up their child. They will have approximately one hour. In the meantime, the child will be isolated from the other children.

  3. A child may be “re-admitted” without a statement from a physician after having a communicable disease only if the child has been absent for a period of time equal to the longest incubation period for that disease.

  4. Upon arrival at the center, staff will observe the children for any symptoms of illness. Parents are required to inform staff of any symptoms. Bright Beginnings is not able to care for sick children.

*Fever of 100 degrees or higher.

**Being free from any symptoms or fever for 24 hours without the aid of over the counter medications (Tylenol etc.) **Being on Antibiotics for 24 hours and 3 dosages.

If you feel your child is too ill to go outside, then that is a good indicator that they should not be at day care.

Center Policy

All Parents are responsible for signing their children in and out every day. This is a STATE REQUIREMENT.

  1. Sign In and Out sheets are posted in the main entryway, listed by classroom with the group of children alphabetized. Parents are required to escort their child into the center and help remove coat, etc. The child MUST be presented to a Staff person before the parent leaves. This will insure proper supervision of your child.

  2. NO CHILD WILL BE RELEASED to any person not authorized by the parent or guardian. Authorization must be in WRITING (calling in my be allowed only if we can identify the parent over the phone, a call back to the parent may be necessary to double check). Identification will be required. Please stop by the office or Parent Board for a form.
  3. When picking up your child, parents are required to inform a staff person that the child is leaving. Please allow this opportunity to communicate with the staff person about your child’s day.

  4. Toys or candy from home are not allowed in the center. At times when we have show and share they are allowed, but they must be kept in the child’s locker for the remainder of the day. This will lessen the opportunity for loss.
  5. If your child is ill, he/she will not be admitted into the center. If a child becomes ill while at Bright Beginnings, the child will be isolated from other children and their parents will be notified to pick up the child within the hour. Parents are required to notify the center if a child will be absent.

  6. Medications to be administered at the center must be accompanied by an Authorization To Administer Medication form (provided by the center). Medications must be in it’s original container, and labeled with child’s name, times to be administered, and amount to be given. Non-prescription medication is highly discouraged to be given at the center without a written Physicians statement.

  7. Shoes... It is recommended that children always wear socks and sturdy, comfortable shoes that stay on the child's feet for safety reasons. Therefore, no flip-flops, sandals, open-toed shoes and dress types shoes or cowboy boots with slippery bottoms. If you choose to have your child wear such shoes, please make sure they have an extra pair of socks and tennis shoes so they can play outside on our "Neat" climber, swings, bikes, and sandbox plus many other activities and toys.

If interested we also have a parent handbook with more detailed information in our Parent Handbook along with State Rules and Regulations, just stop by the office to receive a copy. THANK YOU!
